With the Snooker Grand Prix 2025 currently underway (at the time of writing), it’s time to look ahead to Snooker’s most important competition – the 2025 World Championship. Taking place in its one and only home, The Crucible in Sheffield from 19 April to 5 May, it’s set to be as incredible as ever. Running for nearly 100 years now, having started in 1927, anything can happen at the Crucible, as we saw last year when first-time winner Kyren Wilson beat Jak Jones 18-24.

Where to watch

As snooker is historically one of the most popular sports in the UK, the BBC always broadcasts the entire championship. It will also be broadcast on Eurosport, discovery+ and many other networks internationally.

Players to watch

As mentioned above, Kyren Wilson will be defending the title following his win last year but as to who else to watch closely there’s a lot of speculation but some obvious favourites. Having dropped out of the Grand Prix last-minute it’s unclear whether Ronnie O’Sullivan will be in attendance, however Ronnie faces the opportunity of attaining an eighth win at the Crucible, which would be a world record. Judd Trump is another clear favourite, currently ranked as the best snooker player in the world and having won previously in 2025. Another name that needs mentioning is, of course, Mark Selby. The Jester from Leicester has won the championship 4 times already and is still playing on top form, he’s always a delight to watch.

What’s the prize money?

The prize money for the 2025 World Snooker Championship will remain unchanged from 2024. The winner will get £500,000, with the runner-up awarded as very respectable £200,000. Those knocked out in the semi-finals will each receive £100,000, with the players going home in the quarterfinals receiving £50,000.

The equipment

Professional snooker tournaments always use Aramith balls, these are made from phenolic resin and are world-renowned for their durability, bounce, scratch resistance and shine. We provide a variety of sets and individual balls for replacement, all high-quality Aramith.

All the pros use their own personal cues but if you’re looking to get into snooker or just need a new cue, we offer a wide variety of cues to suit every need. From brands such as Peradon, which many pros use, but also our own branded cues made by master craftsmen.

Whether you’re a player yourself or simply enjoy watching, enjoy the World Championship this year, it’s going to be special!
