A fantastic and rare convertible snooker dining table by Thurston, originally made in 1934. Thurston are the oldest billiard table makers in the UK and used to produce some of the best tables of the day. They made very few convertible dining tables compared to the likes of Riley and Jelks, but the billiard dining tables they did make were of outstanding quality, this being one of them.
The table is made in solid walnut and has 6 legs, this is unusual as most convertible billiard dining tables only have 4 to avoid the mddle legs getting in the way of dining. Thurston overcame this issue by insetting the 2 middle legs, allowing seating around the table unhindered. The snooker diner has 3 solid walnut dining tops and the table is polished to a beautiful warm walnut colour. This convertible pool dining table will seat 10 - 12 people, making it ideal for larger family functions or dinners and also makes for a fabulous board room table.
The table is raised and lowered by a simple wind-up mechanism, by simply inserting the handle in the end of the table, a few turns of the handle later and the table is ready for playing snooker, billiards or pool. The table uses 2" balls, if playing snooker only 10 reds are used to avoid overcrowding the table rather than the 15 reds use don a full-size snooker table. If playing pool, again 2" balls are used and either red and yellow pool balls can be used or spots and stripes pool balls.
The table has been fully restored and includes new rubbers, new nets and new cloth in a choice of colour (over 20 colours available, click here to view the range.)
